The Reddit mods got angry at me a few days ago because they weren’t familiar with the issue that I was talking about with a person that identified themselves as an ER doctor. The person tried to discredit what I was saying and intimidate me off the subreddit. I didn’t want to get reprimanded but they punished me by deleting my posts and keeping the doctor’s posts. I don’t like fighting, but I will fight for what’s right.
Today, out of nowhere, a Reddit MOD deleted a different post of mine on a different subreddit. I had mentioned to another Redditor with chronic illness that I had a Patreon if she wanted to read more about women’s medical issues. That’s mostly what I write about. I give out a lot of free information on my Patreon and my Twitter and on Reddit because now that I understand certain things about medicine I want to help others. I especially want to help women and children because I feel like they have suffered the most from BigPharma’s corrupt business. Anyway, I got in trouble again today, and I didn’t know why at first.
The MOD said that this was the reason my post was removed:“Self-promotion with financial gain is not allowed on the sub”. Really Reddit? Because the doctor whose side you have taken in this matter, goes by the username “Metforminforevery1”
Do you know what Metformin is, Reddit? It’s a dangerous diabetes drug that has fallen out of favor in the medical community because it can cause significant kidney damage & other problems.
This once popular drug has been found to be dangerous, and it’s even banned in South Korea. In 2023, there was a recall of the drug. Doctors in the states don’t use it much anymore. They use drugs that are considered safer (like Mounjaro). How much safer I wonder?
So, why would this doctor come to Reddit to dispense medical advice and make his username… “Metformin…for…every1”?
Why would a doctor try to misinform everyone on Reddit by making this dangerous drug seem safe enough for anyone to take? I’m guessing the main reason is money. I mean, this drug is considered dangerous, and he wants to give it to everyone. That makes no sense. Can this doctor really be trusted? I’m highly doubtful.
If no one is allowed to self-promote for financial gain on the subreddit, then why is that ER Doctor allowed to put a dangerous diabetes drug in his username? You think he’s not financially prospering off of that drug? Do you know many doctors that put drugs in their social media usernames? I don’t think it’s common. It’s not just any drug either, this doctor chose to make a dangerous diabetes drug part of their Reddit username? I think that is even more rare and unusual.
To put what this doctor is doing into perspective, it would be like Richard Sackler joining Reddit and making his usename “OxyContinforevery1”. Would you trust a Redditor named “OxyContinforevery1”? I wouldn’t.
Reddit, your ER expert is doing something just as dangerous. The worst part is that doctors are supposed to be trusted fiduciaries, and this doctor has publicly revealed that they gladly put profits over patients. Why would they ever do something so arrogant? Because this ER doctor thinks most people are too stupid to figure out what they are doing .
Redditt, why are doctors allowed to put medications in their usernames to begin with? Does anyone at Reddit check to see what drug it is, how safe it is and if the doctors are profiting off of promoting that drug?
If I was a doctor, would I be allowed to promote dangerous drugs in my username? Or, would the rules still be different for me?
It feels discriminatory, and we all know things need to change.
Reddit needs to do something because doing nothing means Reddit doesn’t care that Big Pharma is harming the health of humans through a targeted campaign of misinformation, which partially takes place on their platform. Doing nothing would mean Reddit doesn’t care about people. I’m hoping Reddit is better than that.
